From May 13 to 15, 2025, a delegation from the Société Mauritanienne des Hydrocarbures (SMH), led by its Director General, Mr. Ismaïl Abdel Vetah, participated in the Africa Energies Summit in London – one of the continent’s leading events dedicated to the upstream oil and gas industry.
Accompanied by SMH’s technical teams, the Director General presented the wide-ranging opportunities for offshore exploration and partnerships in Mauritania, with a particular focus on the promising BirAllah gas field and other available blocks.
This participation allowed SMH to hold bilateral meetings with several international oil and gas operators. These productive discussions will lead to official visits to Nouakchott, the strengthening of technical collaborations, and the upcoming signing of partnership agreements. The objective is clear: to grant international partners access to available data and to engage them in unlocking the full potential of Mauritania’s offshore resources.
