Organized by the African Energy Chamber from November 4 to 8, 2024, in Cape Town, South Africa, the 2024 edition of the African Energy Week provided an opportunity for several African NOCs and regulators to showcase their countries’ hydrocarbon potential.
This forum serves as a platform for African stakeholders to engage with one another and with international operators on the future of oil and gas in Africa, with a focus on exploration, future fuels, and the global energy transition trends.
As part of this international exhibition, SMH designated a delegation led by Dr. Sidi OULD-NAFFA, Head of the Exploration Operations Monitoring Service, to participate and present the potential of Mauritania’s two sedimentary basins, as well as the country’s oil and gas opportunities, including two key investment prospects: BirAllah and Block C7.
With AEW focusing primarily on energy and oilfield service development, SMH’s participation was highly beneficial, enabling the exploration of cooperation opportunities with experienced partners who can contribute to the country’s development by strengthening its energy sector and enhancing collaboration strategies with international investors in hydrocarbon exploration and production.
Moreover, this participation was instrumental in promoting Mauritania’s largely untapped basins at a time when the energy transition poses challenges to conventional exploration activities. SMH is committed to exploring future opportunities and fostering strategic partnerships to fully harness Mauritania’s energy potential
