His Excellency, the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, visited on wednesday morning the Mauritanian pavilion at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) COP29 Summit in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Upon His Excellency’s arrival at the pavilion, His Excellency the Minister of Energy and Petroleum, Mohamed Ould Khaled, and Her Excellency the Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development, Messaouda Mint Baham, together with the General Director of SMH, Mr. Ismail Ould Abdel Vetah, and other members of the delegation attending the Summit, warmly welcomed the President of the Republic.
During the visit, HE the President of the Republic met with the Executive Vice President of bp Mr Gordon BIRRELL and executives of organizations active in the field of energy in Mauritania.
The Mauritanian Pavilion, organized by the Ministry of Energy in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development and relevant ministerial sectors, and attended by representatives of civilian society organizations and national companies interested in the environment, will last for days and will witness the organization of several sessions and panel discussions on the main themes of the summit.
The pavilion aims to highlight the challenges Mauritania is facing in the field of climate change and showcase its plans to achieve a sustainable energy transition.
