The National Oil Company of Mauritania (SMH), in partnership with SIA, Subsea 7, and SLB, held a workshop from November 11th to 13th in Nouakchott, focused on deepwater gas field development.
In his opening address, The General Director of SMH, Mr. Ismail Abdel Vetah, extended a warm welcome to the delegation from SIA, Subsea 7, and SLB, thanking them for their active participation and commitment to the workshop. He emphasized the strategic importance of collaborating with leading oil and gas service companies, highlighting SMH’s commitment to supporting its partners’ operations and promoting local content development. Mr. Abdel Vetah reiterated SMH’s dedication to building strong partnerships and fostering knowledge transfer and capacity building within Mauritania’s oil and gas sector.
Representatives from SIA, Subsea 7, and SLB expressed their gratitude for the warm reception and reaffirmed their commitment to a robust partnership. The delegation, comprising regional commercial managers and field development experts, highlighted their intention to work closely with SMH’s teams, contributing to expertise transfer and joint project implementation.
The workshop brought together experts to discuss key topics such as subsea engineering, installation methods, and field development strategies. The SMH team, alongside specialists from SIA, Subsea 7, and SLB, also conducted practical exercises focused on developing strategies for deepwater gas fields.
