Nouakchott, 02 February 2026 —
The Société Mauritanienne des Hydrocarbures (SMH) welcomed a delegation from the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), led by Mr. Claver Gatete, United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of UNECA, as part of an official mission to Mauritania.
The meeting included a working session with the Director General of SMH, Dr. Mohamed Lemine Raghani, during which the Company’s activities, strategic projects, and development outlook were presented. Discussions focused on opportunities for cooperation, particularly in the areas of energy resource valorization, economic transformation, and energy transition, drawing on international experiences and best practices.
