Offshore Site – GTA Hub, 26 January 2026
Dr. Mohamed Lemine Raghani, Director General of the Société Mauritanienne des Hydrocarbures (SMH), carried out an official visit to the offshore site of the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA) project, during which he boarded the FLNG GIMI floating liquefaction unit, in the presence of the project partners, BP and Kosmos Energy, as well as representatives of the national authorities.
The purpose of the visit was to monitor the progress of the project’s strategic facilities, assess liquefied natural gas (LNG) production, evaluate the performance of the installations, and review the economic benefits of the project for Mauritania and Senegal.
Welcomed by the operational teams, the Director General attended technical presentations on the operation of the FLNG GIMI, its integration within the GTA project, and the outlook for local content development. He also engaged with Mauritanian personnel on board, commending the professionalism of the teams and the high level of safety observed on the facilities, while reaffirming SMH’s commitment to compliance with HSE standards and international best practices.
