Nouakchott, Mauritania – June 20, 2025: the Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) department gathered SMH employees at the company’s premises in Nouakchott for an interactive safety awareness session. Under the leadership of the head of the HSE department and an engineering executive, this friendly gathering highlighted SMH’s continuous commitment to fostering a genuine workplace safety culture.
Facilitators began the session by discussing major office-related risks, including ergonomic issues, electrical hazards, slips and falls, and fire prevention measures. The discussions were enriched by participants’ shared experiences and observations.
This interactive approach not only enhanced collective awareness but also encouraged active participation from all stakeholders. Facilitators emphasized the distinction between mere regulatory compliance and cultivating an authentic safety culture integrated into daily routines.
Practical guidelines were shared, including maintaining proper posture, organizing electrical cables neatly, practicing regular hand hygiene, and keeping emergency exits clear.
The session concluded with a fun quiz, reinforcing key learnings and illustrating that safety topics can be engaging and enjoyable.
