Nouakchott, June 30, 2025
As part of the working visit conducted by a delegation from the Algerian National Hydrocarbons Company SONATRACH to Mauritania, an extended meeting was held this morning at the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy, chaired by His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Khaled, Minister of Petroleum and Energy. Also in attendance were the Director General of the Mauritanian Hydrocarbons Company (SMH), Mr. Ismaïl Abdel Vetah, along with several senior officials and representatives from both institutions.
This meeting provided an opportunity to review the main areas of bilateral cooperation between Mauritania and Algeria in the energy sector. Discussions focused on the progress of ongoing joint projects and the identification of new opportunities for collaboration, particularly in the fields of oil exploration, hydrocarbon storage and distribution, as well as knowledge transfer and technical training.
