The official visit of SONATRACH’s Chairman and CEO, Mr. Rachid Hachichi, began this morning in Nouakchott with a high-level inaugural meeting between the Algerian delegation and their counterparts of the Société Mauritanienne des Hydrocarbures (SMH), led by the Director General, Mr. Ismaïl Abdel Vetah.
This working session, held at Fasq Hotel in Nouakchott, focused on several strategic areas of cooperation between the two companies. Discussions notably addressed the implementation of the commitments outlined in the memorandum of understanding signed in January 2025 in Algiers, particularly in the fields of technical training, oil and gas exploration, hydrocarbon storage, and distribution.
During the meeting, both parties signed a non-disclosure agreement concerning the exploration data agreed upon for information exchange related to the Bir Allah field.
Both parties reaffirmed their shared commitment to accelerating the realization of high-value joint projects and establishing a robust follow-up mechanism to ensure the effectiveness and sustainability of the partnership. Technical working groups will be set up to define roadmaps for each identified area of cooperation.
