The Chairman and Chief Executive of SONATRACH, Mr Rachid Hachichi, has arrived in Mauritania this evening at the head of a high-level delegation for a two-day working visit.
He was welcomed on arrival at Nouakchott International Airport by Mr Ismail Abdel Vetah, Director General of the Mauritanian Hydrocarbons Company (SMH), along with several senior officials.
The visit aims to deepen ties between the two companies and, more broadly, to enhance cooperation between the Algerian and Mauritanian energy sectors. It follows the signing of a memorandum of understanding in Algiers in January 2025, which laid the foundation for a strategic partnership. Areas of collaboration include training, exploration, petroleum final products storage and distribution, and the exchange of technical expertise.
During the visit, Mr Hachichi and Mr Abdel Vetah will hold a series of technical and strategic meetings to assess progress on joint initiatives and explore further opportunities for collaboration.
